The day has come where I finally get to reveal the room to you all! Which is kind of funny to say that because its not like its been done and I’ve been waiting. We literally pulled the blue tape off the walls last night and pulled everything together at the very last minute. It was a little banana’s and for a second I didn’t know if we would actually finish on time but we did!
I thought before I show you the final reveal we should recap with with how the room started out.
Remember this mess?
The black floors. the pink bunny wallpaper, the stuffed piled everywhere, oh its all so terrible! Remember the mood board I created for the space.
Well here it is, come to life!
My oldest really wanted the room to feel a little more grown up then her previous space and she also wanted color. I’m always trying to think of ways to give the girls what they want in their rooms but also create longevity in the design. Asking things like, “will they love it in five years from now?”
The answer isn’t always yes, but I do try to create a space that will grow with them throughout the years.
One of her biggest requests was for this swinging chair from Serena and Lily. I mean what teen girl wouldn’t?! We also worked together to choose the perfect prints from Minted. They are pretty and so personal to her own style. She also picked out this muted rug from Overstock that has a lovely understated color palate. Its so pretty!
We needed to create a space for homework and drawing and so instead of pairing matching nightstands on either side of her One Kings Lane bed, I added this adorable desk and chair from Overstock to one side and a nightstand with a drawer and cabinet to the other. This allows for the functionality she needs and also creates more storage in her room.
Adding this brass cat eye mirror from West Elm was a last minute decision but I love how it pops against the Chasing Paper wallpaper and works with the flush mount lighting from Mitzi at Hudson Valley Lighting. Its such a fun light fixture, adding just the right amount of whimsy to the space without feeling to “kiddy” as she says.
All of her new and gorgeous bedding is from my absolute favorite, The Company Store.
I also styled the bed just a little more with this amazing lumbar pillow from Juniper Home and fabric I found on Etsy. Using cut yards of fun fabric is a great and inexpensive way to change up your bedding and add in color and texture.
Well, I hope you all like her big room reveal for the One Room Challenge as much as we all do!
There are so many more posts to come with a lot more details regarding the products and our design process but for now we are going to sit back and enjoy what we were able to accomplish!
Thank you all so much for following along, now go and see what all the other contestants have been working on!
